Screen goes blank when charging, won't charge.

Hi,

    When I plug my clip into the AC charger or the USB port to charge, it appears to turn off. The screen, which normally shows that it is charging, automatically goes blank and it does not charge. I tried resetting it by pushing the on switch into the up position with no success. 

Any ideas???

Hi again,

   A bit more info…

   It plays just fine, and the screen is there. 

The computer does not recognize it.
