The HD is not seen by Smartware or Arconis True Image software when it is plugged into my Netgear 3400 router. I can back up to that drive through other software such as NovaBACKUP and ASCOMP BackUp Maker. It is recognized through the router and reads and writes.
To backup using either Smartware or Arconis the Passport must be plugged directly into the computer via the USB port. I believe this is a software flaw that limits the usefulness of the Passport and would like to see this issue addressed.
