Transferring already loaded CDs

Please help!!

I have previously loaded all my CDs into ITunes for my IPod, I noticed that ITunes created a file with all these songs but appear to be in an imcompatible format for the Sansa clip (mp4/AAC) I really dont want to have to reload all those CDs. Is there anyway to convert those files or to get those songs on my Clip? My cellphone’s music manager recognized the music, so there must be a way to do this, Im just not computer savvy enough. I tried using Windows Media Player and Winamp and can’t seem to figure out.

I’ve had to do this myself on some M4A files so I had to find the way.

Well, you’ll need to convert them to MP3 or WMA format - and I’d recommend MP3. Note that your AAC’s can’t be copy protected in order to convert them - but if your ripped them from CD-ROM yourself, they shouldn’t carry any DRM protection.

So…are you running on a Mac or Windows platform? If you are using WinXP, you can use Free MP3 WMA Converter from http://www.koyotesoft.com

It’s free and works great, and they offer many other commercial products that could be of interest («« obligatory plug :wink:

If you’re running a Mac, I’m sure there’s a utility out there to do the job and if you can’t find one, just let us know and someone will assist.

Thanks all! I’ll try that koyote soft website. Someone had told me that Itunes would convert but I couldnt find the function…

One other possibility … put your Clip into MSC mode, and sync using this:

Thanks for all the replies… I have been trying each one… I like the idea of the Itune Sync if i can get it to work right. My next question…what is MSC mode and how do I set that up? I can’t seem to find that in the User guide

If you have the latest firmware (V01.01.18A), you can select MSC on the Settings->USB Mode menu.

 

If you don’t, do this: move the power/hold switch down to hold, then hold down the center button while plugging your Clip into your USB port.  (Then update your firmware!)

So… ive been trying to figure out this Itunes sync program, and I cant seem to get it. How do I get a playlist from my Itunes to the clip? Ive plugged in my clip in MSC mode but still cant seem to figure it out. Please help…
