I’d like to see folder view in the new firmware if that’s possible. That’d make me a WHOLE lot happier with this thing since that’s how they are arranged on my computer.
doubt it, thats old school. Id3 is the new and improved. I personally prefer it over folder tree
That makes me want to pull my hair out. I JUST got them organized by file name on my PC. Now I have to tag?!??! ARGH!!!
Try MediaMonkey for this job.
I’ve been using The Godfather for this so far. MediaMonkey better?
Havent tried “The Godfather” but heard good things about it, anyone else know?
so there’s no chance of folder-view? :[
I’d scream in joy like an eight year old school girl if it happened.
if they do it, i’ll scream like an eight year old, record it, and youtube it.
not really, but i’d be really REALLY happy
all of my music is organized by folder as well :[
Id love to have folder view also. Its a pain when i want to add one track and i have to go through the trouble of adding it to a playlist and syncing it.
Initially, I was wishing for folder view too…but in the meantime, I’ve figured out that I can organize things the way I want through manipulating the ID3 tags with the free program MP3tag.com…and now I am quite happy, and no longer care about folders.
I downloaded GODFATHER. It looks comprehensive but I can’t figure it out. Is there something simple that I could use to change the album name of all podcasts in 1 fell swoop?
Without proper folder support I have been manually changing the album names and it is a real nuisance.

MP3tag.com - It’s free…fast and extremely easy to use- you can just install it and start using it, without even having to read anything. And it’ll batch-convert files…
It truly boggles my mind that something this good can be totally free!
I wish they would give us the option to browse by folder…:mansad:
All users with larger mp3-collection have a folder oriented collection system. Folder view is a BASIC function, but not included at sansa clip. Most people who moved to rockbox do it because of the folder view. Unfortunatly rockbox is only avilable at sansa series e.
My wish is that sansa clip firmware programmers respect the custumer wishes to improve the quality of the product.
I am missing folder view aswell!
Thought this is a basic feature… Please put it into the next firmware upgrade :)
Sorry but this will not be included in the next firmware release.
I’ve just learned to live with this. Tagging is very hit or miss, so I don’t rely on that, and it seems they have bigger fish to fry than giving us folder view. I’ve sort of solved this by making a playlist out of each artist and I pretty much use those and ignore the tags. It’s not perfect but it’s a useable workaround for me.
Tagging is hit or miss? LOL…ya just gotta learn to be creative with the various fields. For instance: I often use the “albumn” tag for other data that helps me organize the music in a customized fashion- since I never load or listen to full albumns. Just think of each info field as an opportunity to create a custom label to help arrange the music in various ways. Believe it or not…with a little creativity, it actually allows you more flexibility than a folder view.

It all sounds good in theory, but I can’t be arsed to edit every single file manually to achieve the desired result. Yes, I’ve tried all the software programs that do batch tagging, and they’re all hit or miss. Sometimes the tag ends up album name, song name, artist, and sometimes it’s song name, artist, album name, but they’re never consistent, so either I edit the tags one-by-one or I re-rip my collection and hope the tags populate consistently. And even when the tags “look” right, it doesn’t mean my Clip is going to display them properly. My music plays alphabetically, by song name, no matter what’s in the song name field, or what the Clip decides is in the song name field. Playlists are the only thing that seem to work consistently for me.
Just because you’ve had a certain experience with something does not mean that everyone will have your experience (or results). One of the reasons I don’t have an iPod is because I don’t want to be told how to listen to my music, so I’m certainly not going to tolerate the same from another audio device maker.
