My Sansa Express is only showing unknown artist etc. on VBR mp3s. Sometimes it might show the correct info on a couple of files, but not all. Is this a known problem or is there a way of forcing it to read the info? It also looks like it is having some problems reading VBR mp3s. It sometimes crashes the player. I have the latest firmware (Europe 01.01.05E)
I never noticed that was why 90% of my mp3s didn’t read the id3 tags properly… Please someone help!!

I haven’t used VBR songs, but I assume they have the same tags as non-VBR songs. Assuming they are the same, check the songs on your computer before transferring them to the Express. You will not be able to edit the tags of the songs that are already on your Express.
Through “My Computer” right click on one of the songs that shows up as “Unknown” on the Express. Go to Properties/Summary. If you see an “Advanced” button click that too.
A display box should show a summary of the music file info. It should list the Artist/Album Title/Year/Track Number/Genre and Title. Fill in these tags. There will also be other tags, but they can be left empty.
You can also use software such as MP3Tag to edit the ID3 tags. You can download MP3Tag from here.
