ID3 tags are bits of information that are tagged onto your music file. The tags hold the information for title, artist, album, track number and quite a few other details.
The Express reads these tags and sorts your songs in its database by the tags. That allows you to search by Album, Artist, Genre and so on.
If your songs are missing the tags, the Express can’t sort them. For example, if the song is missing the artist information it will give “Unknown” as the artist.
In many case the tags are there but just not readable by the Express. It cannot decipher odd characters, it may have problems with spaces, there are a few other things that can throw off the Sansa.
If you ripped the songs yourself you could edit the tags on your computer, through Windows Media Player or some other Tag editing software. For subscription music, you probably have to edit the tags using their software. Check with Napster and ask them how to edit the tags, or check their FAQs.
This link will give you a brief introduction to ID3 tags. Probably more than you really need, but it will help you become informed for when you contact Napster.

Sorry about my horrible service. I don’t work for Sandisk, but after my next allowance I do plan on buying out the Sandisk company. Either that or a couple of songs to download.
Try this link to get to the ebox. Click on the tab “My eBox”.
