I have just purchases a Sansa Clip+. I have it plugged into my computer. Does it come charged, or do I need to charge it for 3 hours straight out of the box. Also…How do I know when it is fully charged. Right now I see a “Connected” message and the battery is flashing from about 3/4 full to full.
It will stop flashing when it’s charged to 100%. I used my with a partial charge right out of the box, but then charged it fully.
When starting to use your Clip+, don’t rely on the charge indicator until you get to know your little player. My Clip+ lasts a reasonable amount of time getting down to a 50% charge but then drops to zero within an hour or so. This was quite annoying initially as my previous Clip didn’t do this, but I’ve adapted. Your mileage may vary…

Rockbox solves this problem.
Thanks so much for your quick reply!
The fast drop off after 50% is due to the nature of Lithium Ion batteries, (NiMh, NiCd same). They have almost no decay time like alkaline batteries. It takes a lot of circuitry to do such on a laptop, and even those aren’t that accurate.

Yeah, yeah, so I’ve heard, but thanks for the reminder.
I haven’t had a chance to Rockbox on my son’s Clip+ yet to see if it nixes DRM capability - that would be the death of my Clip+ as mine is used heavily for DRM-protected audiobooks. Rockbox is still on my list of things to-do, but it hasn’t made it to my “top 10” list yet! For now, I just plug it in when it gets to 50%!
