Hi,
my brother got a Sansa Clip for Christmas, which worked quite well… for some days.
Now, when plugged into the PC, Clip notices it’s connected, but the PC doesnt care. I cant get access to the Clip. It worked via MTP (WMP11) till yesterday.
I’ve read quite a lot in this and others forums, but every solution i found and tried so far, didnt work. Including the set-to-hold-and-press-center-button-trick to enter msc mode.
Well… i’m rly pissed tbh. I just hope anyone got an idea how to handle this.
Thanks in advance.
/edit#1: I didnt update firmware yet… I wish, i could.
/edit#2: some more details might help you.
The Clip worked well on my PC, my notebook and my parent’s PC using WMP11’s MTP. Without changing anything in software configuration, all of a sudden it didnt work anymore at my parent’s PC. So I tried it at my PC and notebook - same problem. Clip says “connected” but PC doesnt care… and, I’m not sure, but I think it’s not even charging - at least, that’s what the display tells me.
Try removing the clip device from the PC registry and reinstalling it. One way would be to go to Device Manager and find it under portable devices / uninstall it.
removed it plenty of times to re-install it - receiving the long-famous Code10-Error-Message
If only I could get the latest firmware on it, so that MSC mode would be easy accessible. I already tried SanDisk Updater, which doenst work, 'cause the PC doenst recognise the Clip.
you said youve install many times…in device manager, what mode is it?
i get the impression that it isnt in msc, if thats true, youre doin the sequence wrong when you plug in…
Unplug the device and try Settings>Format>Yes (THis will reformat everything )
TUrn off the clip device and lock the hold switch in the Hold position.
Press and hold the center select key. While holding the key connect the device to the computer and it should power on connecting in MSC mode. Make sure you keep holding the key till it connects.
Unplug the device and try Settings>Format>Yes (THis will reformat everything) no mp3s left on the clip. so it should be done aswell.
TUrn off the clip device and lock the hold switch in the Hold position. turned off by sliding the power switch up. locked into hold position by sliding the switch down, so i can see the red backround. done.
Press and hold the center select key. While holding the key connect the device to the computer and it should power on connecting in MSC mode. Make sure you keep holding the key till it connects. pressing the key inside the “wheel” while connecting the clip… same result. no usb-drive or anything else like that found.
Did you actually format the device as sansafix suggested, or (as your reply implies) assume it was not necessary because it was “empty”? If you skipped that step, please retry the sequence and see what the outcome is. If you did it and I misunderstood, my bad.
Try reconnecting the device several times also, the “power off/hold/center button/connect cable” sequence (to get in MSC mode) seems simple enough yet I swear it did not work the first time I tried it.
One more thing to try; it is possible that WinXP has enumnerated the device as a drive letter that already exists or is otherwise invalid (I’ve seen this dozens of times on other MSC devices). With the device plugged in (and in accordance with the above sequence), go to My Computer and right click it, select Manage and then go to the Storage / Disk Management area. See if the Sansa M350 device exists. If it does, there is merely a conflict and you will need to change the Clip’s drive letter. To do so, right click on the device name and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”. Continue to where you change the drive letter, and pick one that is NOT in use. Apply and you should then get access to the device.
