I want to empty my MyBook

We have a 2TB MyBook and a 4TB MyBook, both hardwired to my iMac. I want to transfer my Library from my iMac, a ton of movies that’s just sitting there, and keep them on the 2TB MyBook and have the Library look there for it. I know how to do this part, it works just fine doing this, so that’s not the problem.

What IS the problem is that I want to do is empty the 2TB MyBook, get all the old backups off it, so I can get the movies on it. That’ll take up about half the space. Any space left can be for new backups (doubling up on recent backups is fine with me).

How can I empty the 2TB MyBook to start this part of the process?

Hello,

You can empty the whole drive by reformatting it and all the data on it will be erased. Now, if you don’t want to delete the old backups, I recommend you to transfer the files to a different device or computer prior to formatting the drive. This is the link for instructions on how to reformat a WD My Book.

Thanks!

And that I can partition it might just be handy, too!

Thanks again!
