WMA 10 PRO not working on Sansa clip

Hi.

Is there any plan on allowing Sansa clip playback of WMA 10 PRO in the future ? I can only make WMA 9.2 work right now.

Thanks a lot.

btw I was wondering if anyone could tell me which format is better for low bitrate (64kbs) WMA 9 PRO or WMA 9.2

Im really confused with the names as it seems version 9.2 is not PRO.

None of the “Pro” versions play on a Sansa. What would you want at 64kbps anyways? Hopefully not music.

haha.

it’s amazing how good it sounds at 64k using WMA 10 PRO. Sounds the same if not better then MP3 at 128k.

I consider 128 mp3to be only average sounding. But if that sounds equal to it and that’s good enough for you, now you’ll just have to find something that plays it. However, I think the only thing you’ll find that plays WMA Pro would be a Microsoft Zune. If you like the WMA though, and you want to save space with small files…with Windows Media Player 11, try ripping with WMA VBR. I found that the 85-145 target range sounded better than 192 MP3, but was 60% of the size, on average. There are other target ranges you could try…just experiment and see what works. Good Luck!

For good sound quality at low bitrates, it’s tough to beat Ogg Vorbis.  Plus it’s an open format and widely supported (including Clip and Fuze).  Why limit yourself to a closed, proprietary format with very little industry support?

FYI, Winamp and MediaMonkey can rip, encode, transcode and play Ogg Vorbis for free.
