For context, I have a Lenovo G510 running Windows 10, with 1 TB of hard drive space, 8 GB of RAM, and an Intel i5 processor. The WD External Drive I am using is a WD My Passport WDBKXH55000ABK, and the corresponding software is updated to the latest version available. The problem I am facing is that during the backup process, a file called bootmgr fails to be backed up. This would make sense if the file appeared once, but instead it appears literally millions of times on the list of files that did not get backed up. The reason given is “Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.” It is then followed by another file of the exact same name but with the message “File pending backup.” This duo of files (that are actually the same file), show up millions of times on this list, with a total storage space of over a terabyte (which exceeds the hard drive storage space available!). I have provided a screenshot of this oddity. I am concerned about this problem because the number of times this file appears on this list is increasing as long as I keep the Passport connected. This is concerning as I have new files I hope to back up soon as I will be getting a new computer to which these files will be transferred. Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am always willing to provide more information if need be.
Hello there,
Try to do a file backup and exclude this 2 files to see if this helps you out, do you work these files?
I have unchecked that file (it’s the same file with two different error messages?) but it continues on its way, adding more copies of this file to the list of those not backed up.
