WD MyPassport not detected by laptop

While my multimedia player is detecting the drive, all of a sudden my laptop has stopped doing so. I’ve checked on a couple of other laptops and same problem. Any suggestions?

The drive might show up on Disk Management.

Verify the status and check if it has a drive letter.

How to access Disk Management in Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 to manage hard drives

It’s not showing up in Disk Management either :frowning:

I have the same issue but to be honest you hjaven’t posted a solution!!! You just asked if it is visible under disc management!! For this to be a solution you have to post what to do when you get into disc management and there is a disc with no assigned name (like mine), or if there is no disc like the original post writer!

Basically what I am saying is I have done what you say but STILL have no way of accessing my harddrive and therefore have all my files locked away where I cannot get them. Help please

We are providing some steps to troubleshoot the drive and determine the problem.

If the drive is not showing on Disk Management this sometimes indicates drive failure.
