My WD External Drive crashed, stopped working when the AC plug was pulled from the outlet. Now, I cannot get it to do anything so I took it to have it checked out & the techs could not figure anything out. They said it can be scanned to see if the files can be recovered & charge me $300.00 to pull the files out. 

Is there really anything that can be done to save files on external drives when my computer will not recognize the drive. I have many files of photos that I would like to salvage if possible.

Hello, sorry to hear you cannot access your files, when this type of situation happens, it is usually beyond do it yourself repairs. There are several data recovery companies you can contact, some of them offer free evaluations. Check the link below for more information.
