I got into the hands an old WD Elements from a friend.
It immediately turned out to be very problematic, it could not be reformatted, in Lifeguard it was recognized as the HTS (sic!) of the old model, in Victoria only the first 45 GB of the disk was available, then for the rest of the disk there was T0NF error, and I already thought that a friend joked on me and put it into case from WD Elements an old drive, but no.
When I took apart the case, there really was a 2014 WD Scorpio Blue WD20BEVT 2 Tb hard drive inside.
By that time, I created a 45 GB partition that could format and the rest of the disk just hung unformatted.
When I removed the microcontroller of WD Elements case and tried to turn on the drive directly through the SATA connector, the hard drive could not get any drivers, it does not show in BIOS without a microcontroller board.
Also, even with a microcontroller board, the drive is not recognized by firm WD utilities.
I have Windows 7 Home.
The disc does not make any strange sounds, it sounds normal, no visible injuries etc.
Like everything is OK, but disk doesn’t work properly.
Any suggestions what it could be?
