Sansa e250 mp3

Everywhere I look for 4 gb memory card all I get is micro sdhc…this won’t work on e250 model will it?

It depends on exactly which version of the e250 you have. There are “v1”, “v2”, and Rhapsody (specifically designed to work with the Rhapsody subscription service) models. If it’s a Rhapsody, it will say so on the startup screen. To identify a v1 or v2, go to Settings>Info in the player menu. The first line will say “Version”. If the number displayed starts with “V01” (and it didn’t identify as a Rhapsody on the startup screen), you have a v1. If it says “V03”, you have a v2. The v2 is the only one that supports microSDHC natively (though I’m not 100% sure about the Rhapsody model).

All is not lost if you don’t have a v2, though. There’s a third-party firmware called Rockboxthat does support microSDHC. Rockbox doesn’t replace the standard firmware, it runs in a “dual-boot” configuration. By holding the “|<<” button during startup, you can force a Rockbox’d player to start the standard firmware instead. However , Rockbox isn’t for everyone. The interface is completely different from the stock firmware, and the number of options available can be a bit daunting.

Micro SDHC refers to the physical size of the card, not the memory space. This is the size card that works in the Sansa line of players. However, as mentioned by gwk1967 only a 2GB (memory-size) or SD card will work in the v1 versions of the e200 series players unless you install Rockbox. 4GB and larger are only supported natively by the v2 versions.
