Sansa clip not recognized

OK I have read many posts on this but mine is not quite like the others. I have a dell xp, 3 clips, and all do this. I have tried on other computers and they work, I have tried all my usb ports and they dont work, I have other devices and they work. I have all the lastest updates.I have called customer care and after hours of that ■■■■ from what I understood I needed to download a mp3 port, looked everywhere and couldnt find one. So what happens is this, I plug it in, my hardware wizard pops up, looks for device, then I get an error code 28 that there was an error and my driver cant recognize this. I had my uncle who is a computer genius look at this, for 3 hours we looked, and he couldnt figure it out. Do I need to reinstall my windows, or my windows media player? If so how? Is there somewhere to download a driver? Please help quickly as Im about to smash my computer.

Hi

I got almost the same problem.

I got error code 10 when I’m trying to conect the clip the computer.

On my friends computer i works fine, but not on my computer…

So please - if some one knows what to do, help me.

There was another member with a similar problem, only with a Compaq PC. He finally fixed it by installing a PCI USB card  - apparently the USB chipset on his mobo is not happy with the Clip for some reason. Maybe your Dell has the same Bad Mojo. USB cards are not too expensive through Fry’s, NewEgg, and others (less than $10 sometimes)

Well somehow I fixed it.Not sure how. All I did was reinstall wmp10 and then unplug all my usb devices and it worked. I also changed my setting to msc. Not sure if that helped. Now I cant figure out how to download music. I have limewire, cant anyone help me now. I have tried the click and drag thing but im not sure im saving to the right place. I double click the songs and wmp opens and it wont let my synch. UGHHHH! technology

All you need to do in MSC mode is copy & paste your mp3s to the music folder on the Clip. I don’t recommend deleting the music from your computer just in case something happens to your Clip, or when the battery is dead for good in a couple of yrs, you’ll lose your music. Anywho, Limewire is fine for downloading the music… just copy & paste the files to your Clip as I said above.

I’m having a similar problem on my laptop.  Sorry if I sound stupid but how did you change your setting to MSC?  Maybe I need to do that too.

OK thats not how I did it. On my clip I chose settings and checkmarked msc. If it updates at all after that you will have to change it again. If after that you have any problems loading songs or whatever, check that first.

But I have a question, the earbuds really hurt my ears, anyone have the same problems? What and where did you buy better ones?

Froggy, you can find fairly trustworthy headphone reviews and suggestions at HeadRoom: Guide (suppose this is OK, can’t really be considered ‘competitors’)…
