You can test the drive on another computer or port to rule out issues with your setup. Make sure your USB drivers and SSD firmware are up to date. Close any unnecessary apps that could be using up resources, and run a speed test with CrystalDiskMark. If the speed is still slow, try formatting the SSD after backing up your files. If the issue persists, contact SanDisk support for further assistance.

The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (SDSSDE61) should offer speeds up to 550 MB/s. If you’re only seeing 43 MB/s, first ensure you’re using a USB 3.1 or higher port, as slower ports (like USB 2.0) will limit speed. Also, try using the original cable that came with the drive. If the drive is nearly full or has errors, it can slow down, so check for disk errors or free up space. Lastly, make sure no heavy apps are running on your computer. If the issue persists, the drive might be faulty, and you should consider getting a replacement.
