Ok…so here’s the deal…
I want to be able to create playlists in the .pla format that encompass songs in both the internal memory and micro SD card, because supposedly this works while the .m3u format doesn’t (as posted in another thread awhile back).
Before I added the micro SD card, I was able to use Winamp to create playlists without any problem. But Winamp apparently doesn’t generate the .pla format, not to mention it really doesn’t seem to be playing nice with my external card to begin with, so it seems like I’m out of luck there.
So, does anyone know of any programs or techniques that enable you to create .pla playlists *without* having to have your MP3 files actually on your computer, and rather just create them directly from what’s in the Clip+? It seems like any 3rd party software I’ve tried doesn’t let you use the Clip+ as an actual source to get your files. All of my MP3’s loaded on the clip are being ripped from CDs…I have no desire nor room to physically have them stored on my computer. Once they’re ripped from the CD and loaded on to the Clip+ they get deleted off the hard drive.
This seems like it’s a lot more difficult than it should be for something as simple as a playlist.
Thanks!
You do them in explorer. Right click the first song and choose the playlist option. With the playlist you created open, just drag and drop files into that screen from either the internal or external memory. The player has to be in MTP mode. Doesn’t matter how you loaded the card, as long as it’s in the device when you make the playlist.
Thanks…but unfortunately I don’t have the “Create Playlist” option when I right-click on a file. I’m currently using WMP 10 , and can’t upgrade to the latest verison at the moment for various reasons.
I’ve tried all kinds of various 3rd party programs, and none seem to do what I’m looking for. I just want a program where I can see all of the songs on my Clip+ (without having to load them on my computer), highlight all of the songs I want on a playlist, then hit “Make A New Playlist” and bingo–it writes the new list right into the player. Winamp did this PERFECTLY until I added a micro SD Card. Now I can only make lists for either the internal memory or the external card, with no apparent way of merging the two into a single .pls/.pla file that can play songs from both locations.

I use Winamp to create the playlist, including songs from both memory locations, then an .m3u - .pla converter program.
Thanks for your advice…but I’m still having troubles. I found that one issue was that I had uploaded the files onto my player in different modes (MTP vs. MSC) over time, so that was why I was able to drag and drop some, and others wouldn’t even show up.
So I deleted a few songs off of the player, and reuploaded them in MSC mode just to see if I could make a test playlist. Tapeworm, I read your other posts that are the step-by-step instructions on how to make playlists w/drag and drop on Winamp, and I can get it working to a point. I’m able to drag and drop any song I want now into the Winamp playlist, get it saved onto the player, and even convert it to a .pla type of file. The playlist name will show up on the player, but no matter what I do it always shows “Empty”! I’ve tried saving the playlist in every imaginable place I can think of as the other posts have suggested…in the MUSIC folder, in with the folder containing the songs themselves, etc. I’v tried making playlists with songs from both the internal memory and SD card, as well as strictly on one or the other. The files all seem to be tagged properly, as the artist/song titles, etc. show up okay otherwise on the player. I can’t imagine what I’m doing wrong…
