Passport Ultra locks up trying to delete an old backup to free up space

Upon trying to backup, My passport Ultra says “unable to back up files as there is not enough space”.
When I click the delete prior files, it gives me a backup date. I press delete and it cycles through for
hours with NOTHING being resolved and obviously no new backups can be
made. I tried to get into the settings to set the number of old backups that it keeps, but it won’t let me access it. How can I fix this or is something wrong with the drive itself?

Hello,

Can you please try reinstalling the software and trying that again?

I uninstalled the software and then reinstalled it. Now it hangs up on “preparing backup” It has been stuck in that loop for 3 hours now. Finally had to stop it as it was causing excel to stop working.

I did the drive utility check and it came back o.k.

What next?

Still can’t get to settings – just brings up the current backup plan.

I have exactly the same issue. My files that re backing up are about 50 GB. I have a 2 TB Passport Ultra. I see 2 seemingly identical back up locations. But even then it is only 100 GB. why am I getting this error?

I have the same exact problem. When asked if I want to delete files from a specific date to make room for a new back up I have selected yes. Then, a new window pops up that says Deleting files backed up on 9/8/2016… and just hangs there.

Some support for this very critical problem would be fantastic!!!
