New WD Backup install - selected WD 4TB drive and WHERE TO CHECK BACKUP STATUS? This is aggravating

I just installed a new WD My Book 4TB USB external drive to my desktop.
I loaded the four WD apps including WD Backup.
I configured WD Backup to backup my drive C AND a full image backup on the WD drive.
My source hard drive is only 1 TB with about 700 GB to backup.
I selected the backup to go to the WD hard drive. I specified which drive and excluded another drive. I set a “backup plan” to run auto backup once daily.

It launched, the drive light is constantly on, but WHY IS THERE NO WAY TO VERIFY THE BACKUP IS PROGRESSING, % COMPLETE, ETC. THERE IS NO EXPLANATION HOW THE BACKUP WORKS IN THE ONLINE MANU (AND NOTHING IN THE TWO PAGE GUIDE).

HOW DO I KNOW THE FILES ARE BEING BACKED UP//// As a former software developer I find your software user interface is TERRIBLE.

I launched the windows task manager and it shows WD files executing, but I have no clue what is happening. There is no progress indicator.

I clicked the WD Backup icon on the desktop and it says NO PLAN exists and nothing is happening.

This is really badly developed software. Why would it originally take my plan, but
not show the plan when I launched the desktop icon?
