I’m going to be using my Sansa Clip for audio books.
Just tried to install the Rhapsody software disc…would not work. Do I NEED this for operating the player? Is there a download instead??

Lori, when you say it doesn’t work, can you also decribe what happens? Like are you getting an error message? 
There is no reason for Lori to bother with Rhapsody at all. The disc will make a nice coaster.
