Hello,

           I am having WD My Passport Ultra 1Tb HDD. I am from india. Unlike everyday i woke up early and found my hardisk not working(actually not recognised). When the problem was new the harddisk was throwing some sound while plug-in but now that much is not there. The LED light is also in a standby position. but sometimes it gives blinking light. I had also tried it with my friend’s cable but still it’s not working. And also i had checked it through the disk management. There also it’s not showing any thing and respective that disk the message shown is  “unknown” for the HDD. I am really in the panic mode.

                   From few days i was noticing that i am into lots of problems…i don’t know whether i am bounded by any witch spell or what?. Please i am in a hope to get the solutions regarding my problem as i am having some very very important data inside it. And in no case i wanna lose those data.

                                                Yes, the HDD is in warranty but the thing is “data recovery” and as i self-surveyed data recovery teams i found that i can’t afford such amount. So, please help me in suitable cases. As I am preparing for various competative exams, lots of study materials and many pictures of my whole life span till now are there in the HDD.

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.

Sorry to hear the situation that you are going through.

If you are using the drive on a desktop computer, make sure you test the drive on the back USB ports of your computer.

Check online for a data recovery software this might help you to get some of the files out of the drive.

But the thing is i had already check out everything and also what you have mentioned to try in a different port. Still the result is the same for me. 

The HDD is not recognizable in any means which leads to “Unknown and not initialized” message while checking through disk management. 

And as you prefer me to recover through some good data recovery software but the problem is, it is not recognizable there too. When the HDD is not recognizable there how come the process will carry further for recovery. Please help in this matter. Please do reply.
