Just got a brand new 1TB drive.
Plugged it in and it said I should update the firmware and the software.
The firmware installer on the web is new - came out 11/10/10.
It sees the drive and starts to run, but then just stalls.
Luckily it does not ruin the drive but I am still at the old firmware level.
The software upgrade went fine.

p.s. seeing so many other posts on firmware upgrades killing drives maybe I will wait on this a bit!
Read this answer, I know it sounds really dumb updating a Mac on PC but it apparently works. Scroll down to the post by ScrewedCustomer on 8/16. Make sure you don’t have a password set!
