My Passport external HDD not being recognised

Hi All,

I have WD 1 TB external HDD, while plugging in to my laptop , i can hear a sound coming from the laptop and also I am getting safely remove hardware option, I can find HDD in Device manager, It means Laptop can find that an external HDD has been plugged in
but in Disk management I am getting HDD as “Disk 1 Unknown”
and in MY computer I am unable to see the hard disk.

Friends I need you help to sort it out as I have lots of important data in this HDD .

Hello and welcome tot he WD community.

Try to connect the unit to a different computer to see if the unit comes up and you are able to access it. You can also try a different USB cable to see if it is a cable issue.
