I cannot access anything but picture of headphones and the word ‘music’
I can hear a track, but the buttons are not responding as described.
Tried updating firmware, but nothing appears on screen.
Despair.

5 bucks says that’s it. 
Yes, that was the problem. I could see that there was a cover, but it seemed so rigid that it could be part of the player.
