try to switch it on to (hold) and plug it in to the computer. after that, press the center button for 8 or 10 second and it might connect. if it does connect to the computer, go to my computer, left-click on sansa clip, go to format, and quick format it. after that u will need to update it to work your sansa clip again.
The steps to forcing the Clip into MSC mode for solving problems are:
(1) put the Clip’s POWER to HOLD (Orange showing)
(2) PRESS & HOLD the center button, then
(3) PLUG the Clip into the cable which is already attached to the computer’s USB port and don’t release the center button until the computer recognizes the Clip.
I actually find it easier to plug the Clip plus attached cable into the computer’s USB port while pressing the center button – Am I alone in thinking this?
The reason it may have taken 5 tries is because you were doing the PRESS & HOLD and the PLUG in the wrong order. Hope this helps in the future if it ever freezes again.
