Garbled audiobook ogg files

I have an audiobook with ogg files. The first chapter plays just fine but all following chapters are garbled when played (on the Clip+).

I discovered that the 1st file was 2 channel (stereo) with a bit rate 112 kbps - while the following (garbled) files were 1 channel (mono) with a bit rate 57 kbps. Sample rate is 44.1 KHz for all files.

Interestingly, all files play perfectly with MediaMonkey Gold v3.1.1.1261 media player on my laptop!

Is this a firmware bug?

Thx, Rob

Update: Converted the ogg files to MP3 using dBpoweramp - all MP3 files played fine! Conclusion: There’s a bug in the Clip+ firmware when processing ogg files! Hopefully, this will be fixed in the next f/w update.

Could also convert to ogg stereo I guess.  I’ve had one portable and a few PC programs that had trouble with mono files.  Usually they play double speed and pitch, like they are sending half the samples to each channel.  In all cases it was fixed pretty quickly after I notified the vender/author.

So, have I notified the vendor by posting on this forum?

The smart money is bet on “No” unless one of the Sansa guys responds that he’s passed it on.
