Fuze Charging Problem

Hi all !

I have a New black Fuze and the darn thing will not charge.

I have used 2 laptops and 2 desktops trying to get the unit to charge and nothing.

So I purchased the A/C adapter and the DC car adapter and the Fuze will not charge.

Please help.

Thanks John / SIRR1

No one can help?

No ideas, nothing.

Hmmmm, maybe I signed up on the wrong forum.

Does it power up ? if so try a reset, you might have a bad one if you have tried everything I would return it to the  dealer for exchange.

First, reset the device by holding the power switch up, in the ON position, for about 15-20 seconds.

Then, connect the cable to your device, and plug in to the USB port.  Does the Sansa power up when plugged in?

You should see the display message, “connected”, at the top of the display.  If you have activity after plugging in, then on your PC, right click on My Computer, and select manage.  Click on the Device Manager.

Your Sansa will be listed under Portable Device, or at the bottom of the list, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, then go to the USB Root Hub listings.

When you find the Sansa, double click on it, selecting the Driver tab, or right-click, and select uninstall.

Once the device is "uninstalled, unplug, and reboot your PC.

Then plug in again.  See if the device is announced with a “new device found” message on the PC’s taskbar.  The charging indicator on the Sansa’s display should show a little lightning bolt.

In order to begin charging, the Sansa must be properly recognized by the PC.  Communications problems will preclude the charging operation.

Hi Leeman and thanks for responding to my problem!

This may sound crazy but now I am on my 3rd Fuze in 3 weeks.

This afternoon I stopped by Office Max and they swapped out my Fuze for a new unit.

And I still have a charging problem

I purchased the automobile and wall charger for the fuze plus the USB charger and I still can not get the Fuze to charge.

What am I doing wrong?

The new Fuze has about 1/2 charge on the battery and I have had it plugged into the wall charger most of the afternoon and it does not appear to be charging.

Plus my computer does not recognize the Fuze when it’s plugged into my desk top here at work.

I am wondering if the aftermarket chargers (Auto and Wall chargers) may have something to do with the Fuze not charging or being recognized by my PC.

I think this evening when I get home I will track down at the house my original USB cable for the Fuse and see if that is the problem.

I don’t know what else to do.

I had the computer geek here at work run through the different rebooting options here on the forum and it’s like nothing is there so I am betting it’s my USB cable.

I will check back in this evening and let you know if this is the problem.

Thanks!

I’ve had two Fuze Sansa and I had recharging problems both units.  The first unit wouldn’t take a full charge.  It’d stop charging at about 35-40% full.  I also tried a wall plug in charger that didn’t work.  Eventually the unit would only charge from the USB port about 10%.  There was no ‘charging bolt’. I discussed with Sansa support and they authorized me to return the unit and they sent me a new Fuze.

The new Fuze does charge properly, BUT, if I leave it charging overnight it blows out the programming and I can’t use it at all.  The screen just glows brightly, but nothing else works.  After many hours the battery will die and I’ll recharge it.  The trick is to limit the charge to about 3-4 hours . . . not any longer.

Clearly the Fuze Sansa has systemic technical problems.  My wife has an IPOD  . . . and no problems.

Mine has worked flawlessly since September.

I have the same problem but the Fuze won’t recharge.  I just bought it for my daughter yesterday and while it was charging it just blanked out and it would not do anything but glow!  Since the battery died it won’t even recharge.  I hope to find out what I can do.  (P.S. I had problems with ipod too it froze up.  but it was 1 yr old.  )
