Driver Update Failed, 1TB Passport External Drive

I recently bought the 1TB External WD drive and wanted to assure it was using the latest, greatest driver. The current driver is from 2006 and thus I was sure there had to be a newer/better one. There was/is no problem with the drive, it is working well, I just want to assure it’s working at its best.

Please notice that the assigned driver is by MS and further, upon trying to update it, the Update process failed and had to shut down. Upon reopening the Properties window for this drive, none of the property pages were available, they were greyed out. As I’m writing this, I rechecked the properties and they are again available but due to not knowing what’s going on, I don’t want to try to update them again. I’d be grateful for any/all assistance anyone may have.
