downloading audiobooks from the library

I can download the books no problem but it stores them under music, not audiobooks. I have read the manual and it does not explain how to get it under audiobooks. I think this is necessary because of wanting to be able to stop the book and start it where I left off. I know you can do that with music, but I think there is more control under the audiobooks, at least, that is my hope.

Thanks in advance,
Karen

that’s because the file you downloaded from library are mp3/wma file and the player recognize this files as music.
the book will be under audiobook if you download it from audible.com
it is not free though…

I was wondering the same thing!  There’s the “audiobooks” menu under the “Music” menu on the Clip, but when you browse the folders through Windows, audiobooks doesn’t show up anywhere.

The only ways I can think of to arrange them is by either creating a playlist titled “Audiobooks” with Windows Media Player (a little time consuming), or renaming the files, starting with an “a” for audiobooks (then you can find the files alphabetically on the “songs” list.)  I do this with podcasts.

Does anyone know of an easier way?

Is there a way to download files directly to the Clip, rather than having to download them to your computer, then transfer them?

I usually download podcasts on my way out the door to the gym.  It would be nice if there was some way to download the files straight to an easy to find spot in the Clip, without having to download them to my computer, rename them, then transfer them.

If you use WMP you can use the “advanced tag editor”  to select a group of tracks and change the genre to “Audiobook”  or “Podcast”.  Other programs like “Media Monkey”  can do this as well.

Then,  update the track tags on your computer.

Then “Sync”  or drag and drop the tracks to the Clip

Disconnect and turn on the Clip.

Push the menu key.

Then go to Music>Genre>Audiobook  and you will see a list of only the tracks with the Audiobook  genre.

Same trick for Podcast.

Generally,  Audiobooks folder works currently only for “Audible.com”  audio.   Audible tracks “Auto bookmark”

Currently you can only resume the other types of books by power off and on.  So you cant yet save the place for the Netlibrary or Overdirve content.  In the future we might be able to support bookmarks for this type of content,  it will take time to develop it,  but we know users want it.

Thanks for this. I was wondering the same thing. Also, put me down as one more request for bookmarking feature in next firmware upgrade.
