I’ve been trying to convert videos (.avi, .mpg, mpeg4) since Christimas Morning - oh joy. After reading through the forums I downloaded “any video converter”, converted to avi, mpeg4 and was then able to convert using smc but when I went to play through computer or player screen was mottled - no sound, no good. Please HELP!!! What can I do - love the player other than this video issue (that it seems many are having).
What format are the original videos in?
If possible, put them straight into SMC without AVC first.
If not, check the settings on AVC, also what is the volume level on the original videos? You might have to turn the Sansa volume way up when trying to play them…
I tried the SMC first and received the error message that says …wmv can not be imported, install the correct codec first. If the files play back on your computer sansa does not support or file is corrupted.
These are two files that I am trying at different times. Since i received the above error message I have tried to any video converter have spoken to Sansa who gave me the k-lite codec pack but it is STILL not working (however, I must admit I don’t know much about the codec pack except to install it. UGHHH this is taking over my life.
This is how I do mine and they work fine:
Open Anydvdconverter (or video converter)
open the drive with the dvd…
then choose the Video folder
Click OK
This should open it into ADC.
I only choose the longest one (I only want the movie anyway not any special features).
Under DVD Options I choose
Audio Lanugage - 128 - enac3 (5.1)
[note: this I always have to change or I might get a foriegn language. The rest below is set and stays.]
Video Options
Codec - xvid
size - 320x240
birate 768
Audio Options
Codec - mp3
Bitrate - 128
Then I click on Encode and do other things (on my computer too) until it’s “completed”.
Then I plug in my Fuze,
open SMC,
Choose either the internal or card (card always for me)
Then I click on Add Video (I only do one video at a time, even short ones, found it easter and better)
Find the video and choose it,
Make sure the video is highlighted, click on the Convert button.
Wait until it’s done.
Then it’s on my Fuze.
