Connected To PSU Overnight Flashing Red Lights In Morning

I have the 2TB Wireless passport, it is now running the latest 1.06.06 firmware.
If I leave it switched on connected to the PSU overnight then by the morning it has gone to the state of 2 flashing red lights and needs to switched off and back on again before it becomes accessible again. It has no clients connected to it overnight.
Originally I planned to use this for something else, but now plan is to use it as NAS storage available over the WiFi for other devices to send files to, it seems from it’s behaviour I probably have the wrong device for this type of use.
So my question is, should the device stay online and accessible via WiFi if I leave it standing plugged into the PSU for extended periods of time or is mine misbehaving.

WD MyCloud is a better NAS solution … but, good luck with the MPW as NAS

It’s really not a good idea to use the MPW as a 24/7 NAS to the PS. I have heard of the battery being damaged, and loosing half of its capacity over time if done on a regular basis. Agree w/Joey, and a 2 TB (or greater) true NAS like the my Cloud is a much better choice, because they are designed (without a battery inside) for this task,

Thank you for the advice, unfortunately no one has answered the original question of is the flashing red lights expected behaviour or not, I would suspect not though.
Looks like I will have to get a proper NAS box, copy the data I have on this unit to it then kick this Wireless Passport into touch, never mind. Having read some of the reviews by purchasers of the MyCloud I do not think I will be going that route though.

Happy with mine
