I just bought Sansa Fuze 8gb today. How long should i charge the new battery for first time use of my sansa. Am not sure. please help. After first time charging, then how often i should charge it, should i wait till the battery runs out and recharge or before runs out charge it. What is a good practice. Thanks
When you first get the fuze go ahead and charge it all the way up. Then Use it… Charge when you feel like you need to. You dont have to worry about letting it get all the way down. One suggestion though, do not let the battery go dead. When the battery Icon turns red then you should definitally charge it. When the fuze goes dead it can cause other things to go wrong. So to review charge it up and then use it and then charge it before the battery icon turns red.
Good battery practices are things like going to settings, and then to backlight, and setting the backlight timer to 5 seconds, then going to brightness and turning that down as far as you can (leave it where you feel comfortable). And going to Power saver and setting that at 10 minutes, this will turn the fuze off in 10 minutes if you leave the fuze on and are not playing anything.

there is no set time. Plug it in and look at the battery Icon, do you see the little lighting bolt next to it? If that is showing or blinking, then it is charging, when that lightning bolt goes away then your fuze is charged up completely.
is it really important to charge the fuze when the battery level is going red?
after looking sometimes after the level in % it stands at 10% - seconds later the fuze shuts down… - so i think its not going to a deep level like one or zero %!
trying to start again brings the message “battery to low - system shutting down”. if the battery iwould be totally down there would not be enough power to showing this message - right? will it damage the battery when i play music down to this battery level?

Charging at this point is a safeguard. There have been cases where the battery is so low the fuze wont connect to the pc properly to charge and the people have to go and buy a wall charger, to get the fuze working again. So when it gets red I suggest charging to prevent any un nessessary expense or extra problems.
ah - okay - very important to know! because of my usage of a wall-charger i do not have to care about - or not so much in that intensity - is that correct? its just because of the necessary connection if you charge it via usb II on your computer?!
I and notice it says I would not risk it, It is your Fuze, and I have not heard a spesific recomendation from SanDisk, but by the time it gets that low, I would want it charged, mine rarely gets below 50%( mostly because it is updated daily) But I would charge it for sure when my icon turned red.
