I have both a 1 TB and a 2 TB Passport drive. Neither will attach through my USpeed 4-port USB 3.0 hub, although my Buffalo 4 TB external drive and my external SSD drive both work perfectly through that hub. The WD drives will attach directly to my laptop and work OK, even both at the same time.
Then that means your hub does not feed enough power to the drives.

That makes sense, and implies that WD Passport drives require more power than most, since my other drives work. While the hub I mentioned above is powered, apparently it supplies insufficient voltage to the individual ports. Can you suggest a hub that can handle the Passport drives? 4 ports would be sufficient. Thanks for your help.
