Can Acronis True Image clone a MBR-format source disk and create a GPT-format target disk?

Like I assume a lot of people are doing to prepare for Windows 11, I am trying to clone my existing Windows 10 MBR-format system disk to a GPT-format target disk to satisfy this Windows 11 upgrade requirement. The end goal is to have a bootable OS disk in GPT format.

Since Acronis True Image is the OEM software Western Digital supplies to do the cloning work, I would expect there is an option within True Image to define that I want the target disk to be GPT format after the clone. However, I have not found that option. True Image will only do exact clones, including forcing the target disk to the same MBR format as the source is even if the destination disk was GPT format before the clone operation starts.

Is anyone aware of the method to have True Image do the MBR-to-GPT conversion on the target drive during or after the clone? So far the only option I’ve found is to pay $30 USD for EaseUS Partition Manager software to convert to GPT without data loss but I’m not excited about paying another 30% of the cost of the drive to do this when Western Digital also supplies cloning software that should, in my mind, offer this capability.

Am I missing an option within True Image, or is True Image missing some functionality?

I am unsure if it will convert to GPT at the same time, though if needed, you could initialize the SSD as a GPT partition table and then try it. Since the software will not bother the data on the old drive, there is very little risk.

Furthermore, if it ends up not keeping it as GPT, you can follow these steps to convert it to GPT. How to Convert MBR to GPT Without Losing Data in Windows

The MBR2GPT steps should work fine in most cases, just don’t skip the validation step.
