My backup speed is going about .01MB’s/2 seconds. When I would upload files to the cloud manually, I would get 10MB’s-12MB’s/second. Is there anything I might just be doing wrong? Hopefully I can get an answer within a day or so.
I am completely up-to-date with both WD My Cloud and WD SmartWare Pro.
Do you have a lot of files to backup? It’s possible that Smartware having to index a lot of files. How did you setup the backup?
Yes, I have 431.68GB’s being backed up. I thought it did the index as soon as you started the software; when it scans your drive? I set up the backup to do a full backup of my C drive.
I removed the larger files (videos) from the backup, it is now only 79.16GB’s big, though it still only moves kb’s at a time.

That explains it. SmartWare, though it will eventually get your system drive backed up, isn’t designed for full system backups. You won’t be able to restore the full system if you ever needed to. And it would explain why it’s taking so long to get started.
If you want a full system backup, you need to use something like Acronis to do so.
So even though this is advertised for doing “backups” it doesn’t do backups. That’s clever. Even if it went at 10MB’s/second it would be satisfied, but I literally left this thing on all day and it’s only at 2.88GB’s/79.16GB’s. These aren’t system files, this is music, photos, and other files.
So, no. I don’t think that “explains it”.

What I meant is that it explains why you were having troubles with the backup. SmartWare is a backup software. But it is designed to backup your data, such as photos, videos, documents, and other sundry files. However, it is not primarily designed to backup system files and folders. And even though it will eventially back them up, you will not be able to restore those system files back to a rebootable system.
That’s why I said that if you are looking to do a complete restorable system backup, you will need to use a software like Acronis - which comes with our internal hard drives.

With regards to how fast it is backing up, there could be other things affecting that. If you really want help with it, you should contact support and have them look at your system. But keep in mind that the software is designed to run in the background and may actually take a while to back everything up. But it shouldn’t be doing what you’re experiencing.
Moreover, before installing the software, you should have made sure that your system was fully updated, and with .Net 4.0. And there may be other things that support would see that I won’t.
Hello.
Set “SmartWare” to back up when you are not using the drive.
I set mine “when idle” So when you are not working, it backs up.
If you interrupt the back up, the drive starts over. No problem.
Having two drives working at the same time, can really slow your work down.
If you don’t have SmartWare, download from WD, it’s free.
I bought two drives, one to store confidential records…NSA is listening HaHa
Good luck
