How can I retrive the original software? I can transfer files to the My Passport from the PC however not from my MAC. Please help!
You’ll need to format the drive on FAT32 to used in both Mac and Windows.
You can connect it to your Mac and formatted following this instructions

If it’s formatted for Windows NTFS then just download and install NTFS-3G http://mac-free.com/download/NTFS-3G.html and it should work on Mac. A Mac can only read a NTFS drive It can’t write to it.

What original software? Are you planning to use the drive with Time Machine? SmartWare? Cause if you’re planning on using Time Machine, what you’re doing won’t work.
