OMG! Thank you so much!!! I have been looking all over the internet for ages to find a way of making my Sansa louder! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!
This particular firmware update also screwed up my screen about 50% of the time on power up. It turned out this was a bug if you had the backlight set to 10 seconds (which I do) and almost made the Fuze unusable. Sometimes it would take 5 or 6 restarts before the screen became unscrambled. Fortunately this has been completely fixed by a subsequent firmware update, but it doesn’t say much for the Sansa beta testers.

Has the internet even been around for ages?
Well, if this could not have been “fixed”, I would have got myself another player, and most likely would not touch this brand again playerwise. This is something that the developers of the firmware should take into account: they should definetely inform about this on the next player restart after the firmware upgrade, with a tip about how to reset the volume level. Not all people find their way into these forums,
I reckon Sandisk may loose customer loyalty when a firmware makes volume levels drop to the point where it is not possible to listen to an audio book outdoors anymore…
All that said, with the volume levels at will again, the sheer feeling of great design and physical high quality that this player gives often makes me sit and just admire it
From what I understand, Sandisk had to get rid of the higher volume setting due to an EU regulation. They can’t be the only makers of PMPs that had to do that to comply with a goverment law.
