MAN!  What piece of bloatware!!  106Mbytes!!!  It soaks up 80Mbytes of RAM when running and for what?!

With todays’ computers and software 106mb & 80mb of RAM is like a few grains of salt. Nothing at all.

You must sell computers for a living

I can run Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint, along with firefox open to a bunch of websites while editing and building java programmes with Eclipse and everything works fine.  I launch SMC and it takes forever to get going and when I open TaskManager and sort based on memory usage  there it is at the top - it’s even worse that Outlook (and that’s saying something). And it doesn’t even understand flash video format!

My 40$ chiPod touch (Anyka based) came with a CD (imaging that!) that had a 4mb zip file on it containing the AVI converter.  It too doesn’t understand FLV but mencoder does, and the settings were simple enough that a run converts a folder full of movies in one pass.

Don’t get me wrong, the Sansa Fuze is a way better music player than the chiPod and I’m glad SanDisk focussed their budget on getting that right…I actually prefer it to the iPod Nano.  It is today, the best music player I have ever owned.

However it looks like they left the video problem to their flunkies and I’m suspicious that they didn’t supply the converter on physical media with the player and won’t let me just download it to a thumbdrive at work so i can install it on my home computer.

[Problem with Download]

Hi,

if I follow the link, it says me “File not Found” !

And if I´m tryin to run the firmware updater, to download the converter from there, I got the message that I should “try it again later”.

Well, I tried it later…same result!

I would be very happy about a response.

SanDisk had to remove the SMC from download here. It’s now only available through the Sansa Updater. Your ‘try again later’ message probably is a result of your firewall or A/V software blocking the connection to the SanDisk server or the download in it’s attempt to protect your computer from evil net-nasties.

Try turning off your firewall just to see if the Updater will allow the download. Don’t forget to ‘pull up the draw-bridge’ afterwards though. Post back and let us know if this works. I’m sure you won’t be the only one having this problem, so whether or not this is successful will be of interest to others.

Is it possible that sansa updater shows msg like “no internet connection” due to proxy

This link is zero, where can you download the converter? The updater will not list it. I had the converter, but thought it was corrupted because it would not work, so I deleted it from my pc and now I cannot download it using updater.  Sansa doesn’t seem to know there is a problem.

Iraisok… Where can I find ANYVIDEOCONVERTER…? And also, I lost my Sansa disk that came with my mp3 player, where can I find it on the sansa website? Even the website is confusing… I clicked the downloads link, and all it had was drivers… I’m getting very annoyed… If I had the money, I’d just get an other iPod… That was CAKE to work with… But nopers, I’m stuck with my ‘awesome and so easy to use’ fuze… The only thing I really wanted this one for, over the other ones that were available and in my price range, was the video ability… Yeah well, no videos on it cuz I can’t figure out how to get them on this stupid thing… UGHHH it’s driving me nuts!

You might try these alternatives to SMC.

Ok this is a really good way to download the Sansa Media Converter.  I have been searching hard and long for this!  I finally found something that works.  Just go to this website and it will tell you anything you need to know.  How to download, what do do after you download and all that.  It’s really cool and awesome.  Error
