It can’t be Rhapsody since I only have MSC/MTP choices. Supposedly the Rhapsody version doesn’t have those options.
Alright. So I downloaded the two files for v1, copied and pasted them into the 16 MB drive. I then turned it off and back on… nothing has changed. I then put it back into Recovery Mode, then plugged it in and opened the drive… those two files are gone… Odd, or no?
thats not odd.
do the same thing, but now copy an empty sansa.fmt file into the 16mb disk, along with the two other files.
after disconnecting it sould take a few minutes while the player is formating and installing firmware. dont touch any button until there is nothing written on the display.

So, it says: Version 01.02.24A
On the back it says model: e280R… Rapsody then?
No, v1 model with the latest firmware.
The website seems to be acting up… so I hope this posts right. So I copied and pasted the two files into the 16 MB drive. I then created a text document and labeled it “sansa.fmt” I then disconnected my device, it said some more stuff on the screen… I did not catch what it said. When it started back up, I have the same problem. ):
Still no progress. Hmm
did you copy the sansa.fmt to the 16mb drive?
Well… while I was in the drive I clicked “New” then selected “Text File.” I then titled that file “sansa.ftm” and saved it. Is that wrong? By the way, thank you for staying with this post. I am a total newb on this subject. I knew nothing about mp3 players until this post started. LOL!
you might have created a sansa.fmt.txt file.
open notepad, click file->save as.
change “save as type” to “all files” and change the name to sansa.fmt.
or just take it from here.
Hey, no worries. There’s still a version.txt file present, so you should be ok.
The firmware files can be downloaded from the e200 firmware thread, be SURE that you UNZIP them, as they will be ignored if still compressed. This is what I think is hapening. There’s the mi4 firmware and the BL_SD…rom file.
Let’s make the format command file a little easier. FIRST AND FOREMOST (since it will be offered as an optionin Windows, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORMAT THE 16MB PARTITION USING WINDOWS!! Simply use the following:
When the 16MB FORMAT partition is open, mouse ofer the open Windows Explorer box / window, and RIGHT CLICK, then select New Folder. Then click again, and RENAME this folder sansa.fmt the player will see this as a format command, and you don’t have to worry about Windows appending goofball characters on the end of the filename.
There is a nuclear option available for you, SanDisk has a utility that can help restore your device. It will install the earliest firmware (version 12) on your v1, and then you will have to update manually to the latest. If the above unzip-it first solution does not work, PM me for the details.
