i don’t use WMP for it. i just drag from my documents. my ZAP is 1.1.1.50371r and OS is 1.1.1.50239
Yes, but in 99% of all Windows installations, MTP is installed via WMP installation, and it’s possible that your problem is due to MTP. Windows uses MTP when you drag-and-drop to the Connect.
I can’t seem to figure out how to download files i need to get started and sync my music on my sansa connect. Help please
To “download” files means to copy files from the Internet to your computer, and to sync means to copy files from your computer to your Sansa. Which is it that you’re having trouble with, and what have you tried so far?
Shubes, I was having this same problem just yesterday, but I went to freaking asked questions and it states to lower the percentage of memory for mixes and recommendations that is reserved. I turned my off and now my mp3 works fine.
If you go Settings–>Music & Mixes–>Mixes & recommendations–>Then turn the dial to lower the percentage or turn it off as I did.
Noticed you haven’t been on here for this problem in a while, but thought I would let you know just in case you nevered figured out the problem.
Hope this helps…

When I connect my device to the computer, sometimes my Yahoo jukebox does not even reconize it. I have to disconnect and reconnect then it will show up. And on top of that, I cant get the songs to sync over to my device, it freezes jukebox altogether.
agh.
There are several people with connection problems. Don’t know if this will help any, but for the problem of the player not being recognized, or being recognized but not being able to do much, the solution for me was to fully shut down the Connect (i.e., hold the on/off button for 8 seconds or so till you see the Shutdown message), instead of just putting it to sleep (i.e., instead of just hitting the on/off button briefly). Then reconnect the device to the Computer. The Connect then goes through the 1-2 minute startup and gets fully recognized. Worked for me on both an XP and a Vista computer. A Sandisk Customer Service rep, when told that, confirmed this trick, saying that he’d seen that sometimes.
Well what I was told today was that Yahoo Jukebox has a problem with Licenses. And to just use windows media player and you will be just fine.
I don’t htink there are problems with licenses. You should be able to clear the problem by full restart (hold power button 8-10 seconds), and if problem persists then use Connect Recovery Tool to reformat and reload the firmware.
this is an old thread, but I thought I would just add to it, incase someone else experiences the same problem
I just got a Sandisk SansaClip 2GB and got the exact same problem, and found this thread.
Nothing helped and no advice in this thread helped.
The problem turned out to be simple though. It was the cable!!! Since it comes with a really short cable, I used a longer cable I had already from my old mp3 player, and I guess somehow it wasn’t compattible. It worked a little and would sometime let my transfer half a song before giving an error. Then I decided to try out the cable that came with the player, and it all worked perfectly with no problems.
So make sure you are using a proper cable.

To keep this all contained in one thread, I wanted to note my experience as well…
I, too, had issues in MTP mode with copying and pasting to the Sansa 32G View. Specifically, I was trying to copy an *.mp4 movie file I had to the /VIDEO folder on the View. It would like like the file was transferring (MS Windows would show the transfer status box) and once it looked like the transfer completed, I would get the same error message that was being reported here: “The device has either stopped respondng or has been disconnected”
I have NO problems transferring the file in MSC mode.
The solution was reported earlier in this thread, but I think it got overlooked due to all the words. The problem was that the file was in an unsupported format (i.e. my framerate was not supported by the player). There was never any message that stated this in MTP mode, only the standard windows popup error box that stated “The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected”.
I am able to copy files of the correct format perfectly fine in MTP mode.
MSC mode always works because it doesn’t check the file format during the transfer…it is a simple dummy copy and paste. In MTP mode, The device is smart enough to know it doesn’t support the file format so it halts the transfer…even though it is at the END of the transfer protocol.
Hope that may help out some folks that may be pulling their hair out wondering what their transfer issue is.
