Don’t worry about the 1A (1000mA) rating! The Sansa won’t draw that much current! The actual current draw is regulated by the Sansa’s processor, which controls battery management.
Think of it as having a huge engine under the hood. It’s nice to have that power, but you don’t always need it.
The Sansa will be quite happy with that USB charger.

Yes I have, you can use it on the fuze, the dock connectors are the same across the board. You think Sansa would change them on every unit? no way, look at Ipod, saves money…
Also, the charger will let you play music because the pins for that are all that is connected in the dock adapter, thus, the computer adapter has more pins, and that is the reason for the connected screen. Makes me wonder what the other 10 pins are for??? Maybe Sansa will release a AV adapter like Ipods have???
Whether it decides to go to a locked screen when plugged in is the same in the Fuze as it is for all devices like this. It looks to see if the data pins are connected. USB sometimes goes to that screen (plugged into computer, wii, etc.), and sometimes it does not (plugged into wall to USB converter, car to USB converter), and all of the wall chargers, car chargers, and solar chargers (I love those things, too bad I don’t have one) don’t use the data pins, so it lets you use it.
This is also the same on those portable extended battery things. Note that it’s not looking for activity on those pins, just that there is something there on the other end of the USB cord.
