When using the Sansa Media Converter, it is almost always necessary to convert the video file with another converter program first. It’s just the way it is.
If you have a v1 player, Any Video Converter has been recommended, although the free version may limit the length of video to be converted. Personally, I use WinFF with good results, but with longer videos you may (or may not) find the audio gets out of sync with the video. So I then use Avidemux to line things up. Once this is done, then I run it through SMC for final conversion and transfer to my player. Yes, it’s a multi-stage process, but it works.
If you have a v2 model, you might be able to use Video4Fuze and eliminate the need for SMC and multiple conversions altogether.
