Sansa Fuze+

I was very fond of my Sansa Fuze (original) and I used  folder navigation exclusively.

My Fuze was stolen in a burglary earlier this month.  I went out and found only the Fuze+ in the shops, didn’t really like the new touch pad as much as the old “wheel”, but bought one out of brand loyalty.

I am really, really upset to find that Fuze+ no longer supports folder navigation.  I have a huge mp3 collection, lots of audiobooks in mp3 format, some music from indie labels and early days when tagging was a bit uncertain.  It would be hundreds of hours of work to retag everything “properly”.  I like organising my mp3s by folder:  I still think of my music as albums, not tracks, and I still think of my albums as “shelved” by categories.

I fear I’ll have to take my Fuze+ back to the shop after xmas and start shopping for a new player that *does* support folder navigation – maybe an original Fuze on Ebay.  The Sansa team may find this irrational –  I may be “behind the times” – but I find the new player nearly unusable – and for some reason I don’t feel like putting in 100+ hours of tedious laptop time just to be able to find my music.  I wish the Fuze+ worked just like the old Fuze, which was the best mp3 player I ever met.

Very, very bad news for xmas to find out that folder nav has been taken out of the firmware.  Why?  What would the cost have been of leaving it in for those who like it?

I have exactly the same problem(like srsly…almost word for word). I think I will wait another week and then take it back (14 day return policy, so I can’t keep it and pray for folder browsing).
