You can verify the installed firmware version on your player by heading to “Settings” - “System Settings” - “Info” in the menu and verify “Version”.
If the firmware version is older than 1.27 you might want to update . If so, use the manual firmware update method instead of Sansa Firmware Update. Se the first post here for instructions:
